While the rest of the world gets on to diet resolutions, France celebrates Epiphany on Jan 6 with yet another indulgent dessert. The Galette des Rois, literally translated as Cake of Kings is an incredibly light and buttery puff pastry that holds a rich almond custard cream. Traditionally, the Galette des Rois has a ceramic figurine, called fève, tucked into the pastry with the almond cream. Whoever finds it in their slice is crowned the King or Queen for the day.
The Miel Galette des Rois comes with a golden paper crown and a Miel-branded ceramic fève.
We were the amongst first to introduce Galette des Rois to London and now it’s one of our most anticipated times of year for the staff and customers alike! This year we have made our very own custom-made fève for the galettes. If you do find a fève that is a shape of a croissant, you can bring it back to Miel in exchange for a real, freshly baked croissant.
